Even as the pristine land of Kashmir burns perennially, its streets transmute into battle zones for mindless civil unrest and endless violence between ideologies. Gradually, a pattern is emerging, wherein, a Wahhabi version of religious extremism gets forced upon the peace-loving citizenry, news reports of stone-pelting at security forces, anti-national sloganeering and constant eulogization of terror poster boys, be it Burhan Wani or Zakir
Musa, become events of frequent occurrences.

Nearly three-decades ago, targetted incidents of firebombing, which began with the torching of Kashmiri Pandit community homes, has in time, got directed towards educational institutions that bear the brunt of pyromaniacs lurking within the State.

Ensuingly, diabolical sinfulness continued unabated on the roads of Srinagar city, which culminated into the exodus of more than 300,000 Pandits, on 20 January 1990 under duress. Obviously, the Government statistics, state a subdued version of reality.
In those days, and perhaps still, places of worships, where Muezzins verbalised the Azan ritual from minarets, transformed into avenues of antagonism, spewing venomous diatribes and rhetorical tirades to arouse communal sentiments against the minority Hindus. Not much has changed since, except post the exodus, the loudspeakers now vociferate anti-national hatred.
A huge portion of the credit for effectuating the strategy of our rogue western neighbour to the T goes to the majoritarian section. Not only did they point out homes of Kashmiri Pandits to armed terrorists, in fact, actively partook in arson and mob lynching of the innocent.
Resultantly, a wave of criminality unleashed upon Hindus gathered momentum. Inexpressible deeds of monstrosity got committed. Unspeakable gruesomeness permeated the city, even as horrendous crimes got enacted. Etched into the karmic pages of Creation is the ownership of this blasphemous act, which squarely lays on our supposed Muslim brethren, who feigned brotherhood towards the minority community, for aeons.
To us, originating from the bloodline of piety, being born in the lineage of revered Kashmiri Seers, the awareness of truth dawned quite early. The nightmarish truth, about the Muslims of Kashmir, in their absolute entirety, not merely pledging allegiance to Pakistan rather renaming our land as its territory, comes as no surprise of suddenness.
However, the blood of the innocent spilt for unfounded hatred and baseless bitterness, invariably, invites the wrath of the Almighty. Doubtlessly, the present predicament of the local populace is the direct manifestation of a foregone heinous karma, attaining fruition.
But, for the Universe, forgetfulness is a trait in the void.

Notwithstanding, the hallucinatory illusions of those dwelling in the cosiness of their secure houses in New Delhi, the alienation of Kashmir isn't a happening of months, instead, a nightmarish palpability of its seven-decadal past.
Beginning from the erstwhile Nehruvian era, to the incumbent Narendra Modi dispensation, the policy making vis-a-vis the Kashmir, remains a sad tale of sophisms, perpetual denial, mellowed approach, misplaced fallacies, undue significance to irrelevant entities, erroneous track-two diplomacy, stark tactical blunders, mind-boggling political botch-ups and glaring fiascos, which emanate from the topmost echelons of governance.
Sadly, the anomalous political amalgamation of PDP and BJP, having divergent ideologies of diagonal contradiction to usurp power, is a pointer to the chronicled list of imprudent debacles undertaken over time.

To say the unnatural alliance, fished into troubled waters right from its inception, with the founder and former Chief Minister of the People's Democratic Party, Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, expressing gratitude to Pakistan after the peaceful conclusion of 2014 assembly elections, wouldn't be any aberration.
It was merely a harbinger of things to come.
Soon, implementation of his vision of de-alienation through a healing touch policy was underway. Countless terrorists, Pakistan sympathisers, those having expertise in rioting, and hence, languishing in the Central Prisons of Jammu and Srinagar, got unshackled, whereby drastically altering the precarious security paradigm of the region.
Furthermore, the last two years of the PDP-BJP coalition rule got interpolated by several inflammatory statements of treacherousness, originate from public representatives sitting at the helm of affairs in the Legislative Assembly.

Traitorousness begets disloyalty to spread like an epidemic. A deteriorating law and order situation implied the imposition of curfew for months on end.
Moreover, the current dispensation under Mehbooba Mufti is no different.
And yet, inundating the region with mountainous moolah in the form of relief packages isn't quite the solution to the protracting Gordian Knot, called Kashmir.
Perhaps, iron-fist veiled in a velvet glove, may just the first step on a treacherous pathway. Indeed, a systematically channelled, multipronged modus operandi is exigent. And, a totalitarian revocation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, bestowing an undue Special Status to the State ought to be the way ahead, thereby vanquishing the professed sentiments of estrangement from the Union of India.
Entertaining thoughts of a pre-1953 status of greater autonomy to the State is not just preposterous, but, a hair-brained proposition. Without an iota of doubt, in a democratic setup, any autonomy at the cost of national integration, deserves nullification in entirety.
Ideally, the appointment of an erudite Kashmir Advisor is the need of the hour. Hopefully, it will emerge from a community, forced to subsist in exile as refugees, on their land.
After all, expecting one individual to decipher, fathom and resolve every issue single-handedly, is indeed, akin to utopianism.
